Break Down the Walls & Rise Up

Ep: 232

Do you see people living the kind of life you’d like for yourself, and think, “I could never do that”?

The truth is that until you’re able to change your mindset….you’re right.

As you go through life, you accumulate certain beliefs. Many of those “beliefs” are the very reasons you think you’re a victim of your circumstances.

You already have everything you need to succeed. It’s the walls you’ve built up around yourself and the beliefs that you hold on to that are keeping you stuck.

You’ve got to open your mind and begin to question why you put them there.

Today on The Bridge to Fulfillment®, Blake explains why a lifetime of belief buildup could be holding you back. If you want to find your true purpose, you’ve got to “clear the windshield.”

In this episode, you’ll learn how to step back and start to really look at what you believe to be true in your life. You’ll objectively question whether or not these things are true, and begin to “clear the windshield” of false beliefs that have been holding you back from reaching your potential. You’ll learn to embrace the important stage of surrender, the true first step to experiencing the breakthrough you need in your life.

What You’ll Learn:

  • The only way to truly find your purpose (2:20)
  • Why you’re not a victim of your circumstances (3:16)
  • What really precedes every breakthrough (4:10)
  • The process of surrender (6:26)

Last week, I had the pleasure of spending a couple of days with a few of my mentors and fellow colleagues in a certification program CCA, that I went through last year, as an opportunity to do my graduate presentation and really speak to what I have learned and how I have taken the lessons that were taught and really embodied them in my life. And today, I want to share one of those lessons with you. I love this quote, this came from one of my mentors, it’s a quote from Mark Twain, “It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know, for sure, that just ain’t so“. I also found this other quote, similar in meaning, “It’s not who you are that holds you back. It’s who you think you are not“.

You know, my journey this last six years since leaving corporate America has expanded my perspective in so many ways, moving from a life where I was successful on paper, but constantly felt this unsettled feeling that there’s got to be something more for my life. I believed, and I experienced a life where I worked really hard to achieve my results. And I felt that that was the only way possible to lead the life that I wanted to lead. And I was very successful in that work. And yet, something always felt like it was missing. And it’s only been through this journey that I have really come to understand that in order to achieve your highest purpose and levels of ease, peace, happiness, joy, and true alignment with your purpose, and why you are here, you got to start with the mind. You got to start breaking down the walls of the things that you believe to be true. You’ve got to begin to have an open mind, that may be the world isn’t exactly as you think that it is. And you’ve got to start clearing the windshield is what I call it.

And here’s how I describe that. I believe that most of us, it’s like we’ve been driving cross country our entire lives for 20 years, and we never got a carwash. As a result, our windows are so dirty, we cannot see clearly. And as a result of not being able to see clearly, we actually feel and think that we are victims to the circumstances in our lives. That we can’t create the change that we want in our lives because of our obligations, our responsibilities, because of the boss, because of the lack of the time that you think that you need. And we get stuck here. And we will keep getting the lesson over, and over, and over again, until the pain gets so great, that we’re no longer willing to tolerate it. I’ve said this before, I’m going to say it again, one of the biggest insights I got last year was that we create much of our own suffering, we just don’t even realize it.

As a society, we talk all the time about you must have a breakdown before the break through, and it’s always darkest before the dawn. And we glorify the suffering, in belief that the suffering is why we get the reward at the end. And what I would tell you that I have learned viscerally through this experience is that it isn’t the suffering that produces the growth, or the change, or the positive momentum in our lives. It’s what precedes that breakthrough. And every time and in every single way, right before that breakthrough, is surrender. So when you can begin to understand this that surrender is the key to everything. That through surrendering, you let go of the expectations, beliefs, stories, and all of the things you’re clinging to. And instead you allow for space. You allow for receptivity for things to come to you. And you allow for the right opportunity to show up. And in doing so you finally remove the barriers that have been actually keeping you stuck. Because it’s never the circumstances that are keeping us from what we want. It’s the barriers in our mind.

So today, my message for you is this. Break down the walls of what you believe, clear your windshield, remove the friction in your life, and align with the God given skills, passions, and talents you’ve been given, there’s a purpose for your life so much greater. And until you get your life in alignment with that, you will continue to create suffering, you will continue to chase more, you will seek band aids, hoping that the next thing will solve your problem. When in reality, the key really starts with you. It starts with an openness, that maybe the world isn’t really how you see it. And that you are the key to removing the glass ceiling above your head, there is so much more possibility for your life. And on the other side of the false beliefs that are keeping you trapped, is a world so much better, and so much more beautiful than you could ever imagine.

Blake Schofield 6:51
You see, we get trapped in the illusion that only some people can achieve greatness. Only some people can do work every day that feels like play. That happiness isn’t for all of us, or that you just have to compromise. And we don’t realize that we have an exact purpose for our life. And when we’re not living in that purpose, we will always feel unsettled. And we mistake the lessons that were being given in our lives, as failures, as suffering, instead of seeing them for the gifts that they are, the things that light the way, that are showing us the walls we need to break down, the places where we need to surrender, and the path to truly get where we’re meant to go. I hope this message today challenges you to rise up. Rise up to your potential, rise up to the path that you have been given, that you may not yet even be fully connected to. If this is resonating with you, it is time. Time to lay down the false beliefs that are standing in your way. It’s time to surrender and recognize the places in your life that needs to change in order for you to become the best version of yourself. And what I want you to know is everything is possible. Until next time, have a great week.
